Belt conveyor

A belt conveyor is one of the most common types of continuous transport machinery. It can be used for moving bulk or unit loads. Belt conveyors are widely used in industrial production, in mines and quarries, at mineral processing plants, and in metallurgy.

Belt conveyors are available in various versions — mobile, portable, reversible, and stationary. The load is transported on the belt either horizontally or at an incline up to 33° to the horizontal. Applicable belt widths range from 400 mm to 2400 mm.

Stationary conveyors are used for transporting large quantities of material over distances ranging from 30 to 13,000 meters, while mobile and portable conveyors are used for transporting smaller amounts of material over distances from 2 to 20 meters.

Today, due to their simple design, low specific energy consumption, high performance, and reliability, belt conveyors remain the primary type of machinery for continuous material handling.

Note

Conveying capacity (Q) is calculated for horizontal transport, assuming a surcharge angle (θ) of 20° and a roller troughing angle (λ) of 35°.

Belt speeds of 4.5 m/s and 5.6 m/s are non-standard and not recommended.
